THE robbery and assault trial of rock star's son Otis Ferry was adjourned today to give the barristers involved more time to prepare their cases.

Countryside campaigner Ferry, 25, of Eaton Mascot, Shropshire, the son of Roxy Music singer Bryan Ferry, allegedly attacked a hunt monitor and robbed another while they tried to film him at his sport last year.

Ferry, who arrived this morning at Gloucester Crown Court, sitting at Cirencester Magistrates, previously denied robbing Helen Ghalmi of a Samsung video camera belonging to Susan Grima on November 21 at Lower Swell, near Cheltenham.

The 25-year-old, who gave his name as Charles Frederick Otis Ferry, also pleaded not guilty to assaulting Helen Ghalmi by beating on the same date.

The incident is alleged to have taken place while Ferry was with the Heythrop Hunt, which covers Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire.

A group of animal rights activists filled the public gallery this morning to support the alleged victims through the trial.

Members of Protect Our Wild Animals and League Against Cruel Sports distributed anti-hunt flyers to anyone entering the courthouse.

A jury of seven women and five men was sworn in but sent home this afternoon by Judge Martin Picton and asked to return tomorrow at 10.30am.

Judge Picton told the jury Ferry's counsel Philip Lucas and prosecutor Kerry Barker needed more time to prepare for the trial.
