A WORLD War Two bomb discovered in Amberley this morning has

now been removed and taken to Aston Down airfield to be blown

up.

At approximately 9.55am this morning police were called to a

house in Amberley after a resident discovered a

bomb shell in the garden.

After carrying out a risk assessment, the Explosive Ordnance

Disposal (EOD) Unit was called in and the road running through

the village was closed off. Several nearby houses have also

been evacuated.

The shell-type item is described as around 12 inches long

and three to four inches in diameter, with no markings or

colours on it.

A police spokesman said the road is expected to open shortly

now the bomb has been removed.
