122 dead prisoners under Gloucester Prison
Some 122 dead prisoners are buried in unmarked graves under HMP Gloucester.
The figure has emerged just days after the last modern day prisoner left the prison, which is being shut down.
English Heritage experts say excavation work would need to be carried out before any redevelopment could take place.
The 222-year-old prison carried out executions for all sorts of crimes - from game theft to murder.

They were once a public affair before becoming private, and then eventually abolished.
Now, in 2013, the prison has been closed and attentions are turning to the future of the site.
Swanky hotel chain Malmaison indicated they would be interested in turning the prison building into a plush hotel similar to the Oxford Jail, which they also run with £300-per-night rooms.
