FRAMPTON Country Fair brought crowds flocking to the village on Sunday for the annual event on Rollo and Janine Clifford's land.

It's usually successful, but this year the visitors numbered over 13,000. Good weather and the fact that some of the other regional shows were cancelled boosted numbers on the 30-acre lakeside site.

The crowds were treated to a packed programme of entertainment and displays in the two show rings and elsewhere across the beautiful park setting. Younger visitors too had their share of activities – including a climbing wall, fun fair rides and animal petting opportunities around almost every corner.

Mr Clifford who, with his wife has been organising the fair for 20 years, said: "We are very much a traditional country fair – celebrating and showing the best of our great countryside. Add in the 400 traders who were selling everything from waterproof jackets to decorative glass and wild boar sausages and you really have something for everyone."

"I can't remember ever seeing so main people gathered around the main ring. The tent pegging display is always one of the highlights, followed by the Renegades parachute team dropping in and helping to raise at least £2,000 in the process for the Royal British legion. Then the White Helmets motorcycle display team showed off their amazing skills. That great turnout means more help for the good causes which are supported by the event."
