19-year-old Siobhan Brasier resigns from Cirencester Town Council to focus on university studies
CIRENCESTER'S youngest ever town councillor has resigned after struggling to juggle her council responsibilities with her university studies in Cardiff.
Liberal Democrat Siobhan Brasier was elected unopposed for the Stratton-Whiteway ward in April 2011, just four months after her 18th birthday.
She will now focus on her Pyschology studies at the University of Wales in Cardiff, where she has lived since September.
Cirencester deputy mayor Joe Harris, 19, says Siobhan "has had a difficult time since becoming a councillor".

Liberal Democrat Joe said: "Her mother was involved in a nasty car accident, so obviously it has been a difficult time for her."
He added: "I don't think being a councillor was too much work for her, I think it was more that she was in Cardiff and felt it was unfair to the people in her ward that she couldn't be there a lot of the time."
The town council plans to advertise the Stratton-Whiteway post.

“She must have known when she stood for election that she wouldn't be around the Cirencester area for much longer. This shows a lack of planning, not just by Siobhan, but by the LibDems.
Is the deputy mayor really only 19? Were a load of teenagers elected in Cirencester last year?”
