3.43pm - Brace yourself for torrential rain
Weather experts have predicted torrential rain will
hit Gloucestershire this weekend.
The Citizen's weather man Ian Thomas said Gloucestershire
should brace itself for some heavy down pours in the coming
days.
He said the rain is on its way due to an "unseasonal
drop of low pressure across the Atlantic" heading in the
county's direction.
"It is coming up across Gloucestershire and will stay with
us for four to five days," Mr Thomas said.
"There will be a fair amount of rain and I would say there
is a potential rainfall of between 25 to 40mm over the
days."
It is also predicted strong winds of up to 40mph could blow
through and residents are advised to check forecasts
regularly.
Mr Thomas said: "It is an unusual Atlantic depression for
this time of year and something we would usually see in January
not July."
A spokeswoman for the Met Office confirmed Mr Thomas's
predictions saying residents should expect the nasty conditions
to last all weekend and up until Tuesday.
She said: "It looks like the rain will be quite persistent
and there is also the possibility of some thunder as well. The
temperatures will also drop to around 19 degrees."

“last years floods were on the back of already water logged land. The rain broke the camels back. By comparison it has been relatively dry so I wouldn't worry too much!”

“13.55, Glos - bright and sunny most of the time, broken cloud so it goes a bit hazy - but nothing that looks like rain clouds!!”

“Here we go again - people saying here we go again..... it's britain - it's summer - it will rain - a downpour doesn't mean it will be like the floods last year (the last time the floods happened before last year was 100 years ago)
Here we go again indeed...... slow news day?”

“Just because it may be forecast heavy rain does not necessarily mean that we will see the likes of last year's flooding does it. Are we going to hear the 'here we go again' everytime a raindrop falls in this county? C'mon people, freak things like happen, all over the world, at any time. You can't live in constant fear of what may come to be, as it certainly won't stop it from happening. The sensationalalising from this county's news sources is getting ridiculous on so many levels and on so many different stories. It's all so....provincial in its approach.”
