3 fined after guilty pleas in poaching case
THREE poachers snared by police admitted the offence, even though they had not caught a rabbit.
Frederick Edwards, 70, of Shepherds Race, Pontypool; Danny Johnson, 56, of Cwmynyscoy Road, Pontypool; and Jason David Miller, 35, of Shepherds Hill, Pontypool admitted poaching, at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court yesterday.
All three pleaded guilty to "daytime trespass in pursuit of game – poaching", on October 13. They admitted contravening the Game Act 1831, which makes it an offence to trespass in "search or pursuit of game, woodcocks, snipes or conies".
They were caught at Compton Abdale, between Northleach and Andoversford. They were each fined £100, ordered to pay £30 each towards prosecution costs, and must all pay a £20 victim surcharge.
