44 jobs axed at UCAS in Cheltenham
MORE than 40 people will lose their job at Ucas in Cheltenham at the end of this month.
Ucas, which manages applications to the country's universities and colleges, will make 44 members of staff redundant.
The company, which has around 350 staff, has managed to save 11 workers who were threatened with redundancy by moving them to different roles.
A total of 34 new jobs across the business will be created, and the roles will be advertised the Ucas website in the new year.

Commenting on the redundancy process, a spokesman said: "Like all businesses operating in this competitive and changing environment, there is sometimes the need to make difficult decisions to ensure the business has the skills it needs now and for the future.
"There are no firm proposals at this stage to make staff changes in addition to those already being proposed."
