£500 for hospice thanks to Lily's onesies on the run
COLOURFUL onesies were all the rage at a Cheltenham park in one of the more unusual fundraising efforts.
Young Lily McDermott organised a onesie fun run around Naunton Park to raise money for Sue Ryder's Leckhampton Court Hospice.
The cause holds a special significance for the nine-year-old because its staff cared for her grandmother, Jennifer Sadler, before her death in May.
So, determined to do her bit to support the cause, she invited pals to don their most outrageous all-in-one outfits and join her in a run around the park. Friends turned up, dressed in a colourful patchwork of jump suits and have raised more than £500 so far.
Lily said: "All my friends were there and we had so much fun.
"I would definitely want to do the same next year.
"I decided to run in onesies because I thought that would make it more fun."
Leaders at the Sue Ryder hospice praised Lily.
Charity spokesman Duncan Willoughby said: "It's great that Lily has organised such a fun event to raise some money for us."
