AN accident is causing delays for drivers in Gloucester this morning.

The incident took place at around 8.10am at the junction of Oxstalls Lane and Cheltenham Road, outside the University of Gloucestershire campus.

It involved a black Yamaha bike registered to a Gloucester address, and a black Vauxhall Astra, also from the Gloucester area.

The motorcyclist is believed to have suffered a gash to the leg, but his injuries are not thought to be serious.

Emergency services are at the scene, and there are long delays for drivers in the area.

“I have witnessed the aftermath of a number of collisions at that junction. It seems to me that even if you ignore the cost to life, limb and property that results from frequent collisions at the junction, it would still be worthwhile for the County Council to put traffic lights there. They would considerably reduce the cost of providing emergency services to deal with the mangled vehicles and injured people. Perhaps people who live locally could start to harass the County Council - not the City Council - until they give in and do the right thing.”

“The junction may be bad but also theres a fair few drivers who clearly cant drive and should have to resit the driving test again”

“This is a very nasty junction. I drove past the accident this morning and I hope the young man on the bike is ok and makes a speedy recovery. I have spoken to both Paul James and Kathy Williams concerning this junction several times over the last 5 years but nothing has been done. I can't believe that it would be "beyond the wit of man" to install a filter light during busy times to allow the traffic to turn right out of Oxtalls Lane.At the moment the only way to turn right at busy times is to break the law and enter the box junction(which has been beautifully re painted recently)! Speaking of box junctions when are Gloucester Highways going to repaint the one at the junction of Metz Way, Trier Way and Black Dog Way? The stupid drivers who block this every morning should be caught on camera and fined.”

“They should move the traffic light up a bit to inlcude oxtalls lane. Any1 thats sits and waits in that traffic to go onto chelt road knows what its like. I've been saying for years there was goin to be an accident (serious or not) opn that junction and its jus proven me right!”

“This is a horrible junction, I always try my best to avoid it! I think something should be done about it because the difficulty of going right onto Cheltenham Road does cause traffic to build up on Oxstalls Lane.”
