A48 reopens after serious crash at Awre near Blakeney
The A48 has reopened following a collision this morning, Wednesday February 27.
The collision, which involved a Renault Clio and a Ford Fiesta happened at approximately 8:10am on the A48 at Blakeney, just south of Nibley cross roads.

The driver of the Renault, a 41-year-old local woman, was taken to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol with serious injuries. Her condition is currently described as critical but stable.
The driver of the Ford, a man from Chepstow, was also injured in the collision and was treated by paramedics at the scene.

The road was closed for around five and a half hours whilst the emergency services worked at the scene.
Witnesses to the collision, that haven’t yet spoken to officers, are asked to call Gloucestershire Police by dialling 101 and quoting incident number 42 of February 27.

“No it was on the Lydney side of Blakeney, over the hill on the first bend just after the little bit of dual carriageway by the Viney Hill turning. 2 cars quite badly smashed but thankfully didnt look like they rolled. Impossible to tell what had happened but there was a lot of mud on the road and the roads are slippery enough as it is.”
