Accused kept waiting for verdict in abuse case
WEALTHY Stroud businessman Stephen Read is waiting for the jury to return as he faces 15 counts of sexual abuse of boys.
Jurors went out yesterday morning, but had not reached a verdict by the end of the day, with Judge Jamie Tabor sending them home for the night.
Mr Read, 58, from Bussage, who is the founder and managing director of Enviro Technology Services.
He has pleaded not guilty to the 15 charges of sexual assault.
The alleged offences took place on shooting, swimming and fishing trips which the defendant took the boys on and in his car.
The allegations included inappropriate touching, showing the boys pornographic videos and making indecent suggestions.
He denies there is any truth in the allegations.
The jurors will continue deliberations today.
