Air cadets march through Tewkesbury
TEWKESBURY came to a reverential standstill as hundreds of air cadets paraded through the streets to celebrate the 150th year of the cadet movement.
Cadets from the Bristol and Gloucestershire wing of the Air Training Corps were joined by dignitaries for a service of thanksgiving in Tewkesbury Abbey, including Town Mayor Philip Workman and new police chief Tony Melville.

PROUD: Air cadets march through Tewkesbury
Mr Melville, who took on the role of Chief Constable on January 1, welcomed Gloucestershire's Lord Lieutenant Sir Henry Elwes to the Abbey.
Following the service the cadets marched to the town hall, with drums and brass resounding, where Sir Henry gave the salute.

“My son cdt Purveur was a banner bearer in this parade. I was so proud of not only him but all the others who marched. It was an honour to watch so many young people doing something worthwhile with their time. Well done to you all from one very proud mum.”
