Alarms save the day in house fire
FIRE alarms saved a Brockworth home from destruction yesterday.
Firefighters were called to Clyde Road at 1.14am by concerned neighbours, who could see flames coming from the property and hear an alarm going off.
Gloucester firefighters extinguished the flames and the house was only slightly damaged, which the service said was thanks to the early warning from the smoke alarms.

“The bigger story here is that a petrol bomb started the fire apparently!”

“So were the neighbours alerted initially by the sound of the alarms? The way it reads, it could be that they saw the flames first, and then heard the alarms. In which case, it was the neighbours who saved the house, and not the alarms.
Doesn't matter how loud an alarm is, it's useless if it doesn't alert somebody. Saying that, when did you last go to investigate a car alarm going off, rather than just thinking "there's another bl00dy car alarm going off - hope it doesn't do that all night"...???”
