“I had only just opened up, so I only had coins in the till. He said he wanted notes.
“He said ‘ I know you’ve got money. He pushed me and put his hands in my trouser pocket and took £150 in notes. He showed me the gun and said ‘give me the money or I’m going to shoot you.’
“I was trying to call the police but I was afraid he would shoot me. I was a bit scared, I was shaking. It was really awful.”
Married Mr Ahmed said the robber also stole a Samsung mobile phone before he fled.
The shop has been open for seven months and there was a robbery there two months ago, which resulted in convictions.
The man was described as black and around 6ft tall. He was wearing a black jacket, black jeans and had his face covered.
It is not yet known what sort of firearm the thief was carrying or whether it was actually a replica or air weapon.
No one was injured in the incident.
Searches were carried out in the area but the offender was not located. Enquiries are ongoing, which will include scrutinising any CCTV in the area.
Anyone with any information should call police on 101, quoting incident number 150 of October 17.
