Arrest after suspected hit and run

POLICE have arrested a man after reports of a suspected hit and run crash in Cirencester.

Emergency services were called to the junction of Watermoor Road and Querns Lane around 11.15pm on Friday after a dark BMW 316 Compact hit a 20-year-old pedestrian.

He was taken to Great Western Hospital in Swindon with cuts, bruises, and a head injury.

A spokesman for the South West Ambulance Service said the injuries were not thought to be serious.

A 37-year-old local man was arrested shortly after the incident on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene.

He has been bailed to attend Cheltenham police station on May 1.

Witnesses to the crash who have not spoken to police should call 101, quoting 514 of March 15.
