CUSTOMERS are barbecu-ing up at a Gloucester butchers to get their hands on bargain packs for the grill.

C&E Duberley, in Alvin Street, use only local produce and their £20 BBQ packs have proved to be a real hit with their customers in the sizzling temperatures.

Keith Richards, from Gloucester, who has been helping out at the shop for the last two years since he left the police force, said the selection has gone down really well with the customers.

He said: "We do a full range for people to use on their barbecue, and we make all of our own stuff.

"Over the last couple of weeks we have sold a lot of our ready made-up packs.

They're proving really popular, especially in this warmer weather."

The butchers is owned by Chris Duberley who has worked there for the last 30 years. He is offering a frozen pack which includes six beef burgers, six chilli burgers, six pork sausages, six speciality sausages, six pieces of cajun chicken and 700g of Chinese spare ribs – all locally produced.

"All of our meat is locally sourced," Mr Richards said.

"We do a lot of other stuff too as well as the pack, including our peppered steaks.

"But you really do get a lot for your money with these packs."

Mr Richards used to help out in the butchers from time to time when he was in the police force, but now takes a more active role.

"I really enjoy the job and I'm here a few days a week now," he said.

"You get a real sense of pride too, especially because we do make all of our own stuff."

The butchers had to take a lot of its meat out of the window due to the warmer weather, but the usual range is still available over the counter.

“My family has tried the BBQ packs from C&E Duberley and they really are excellent. The quality of the meat is so much better than anything out of a supermarket and the taste is well - best to try yourself!”
