Badger culls which never happened are thought to have cost Gloucestershire Police a whopping £64,000.
The force is claiming against the Government for planning security around controversial badger culls which were later postponed by MPs.

Forces can ask for extra Home Office cash to police events outside their normal duties.
A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Constabulary said: "The costs we have requested are for the overtime incurred in the course of the policing operation for the planned cull.

“Conservative estimates of the policing costs were £5M (for both cull areas) if the badger cull had gone ahead. Many people believe the actual bill would have been far higher.
Assuming the badger slaughter project is now dead and buried, taxpayers have got off very lightly - their government has "only" wasted £64K public money on a scheme it knew was opposed by the vast majority of the electorate.”
