Bar staff swap pints for pedals in charity bid
BAR staff at the Water Poet Pub in Eastgate Street took to the saddle for a day of furious peddling to help raise money for children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent.
They swapped pulling pints for pulling on the pedals in a bid to cycle the same distance from London to Paris, on board static exercise bikes.
Starting at 9am, the cycle was expected to last long into the night in a bid to reach their 288 mile target before closing time.
The charity is the chosen beneficiary of fundraising projects of JD Wetherspoon pubs across Gloucestershire for 2013.

Luke Martin, 21, has only just joined the Wetherspoon’s team, but was happy to help out.
“I’m not very fit, and a bit of a lazy footballer so it was hard work.
“It is for a good cause so I couldn’t say no.
“I cycled around 20 miles in 45 minutes, I’m quite happy with that.”
Lucy Dickerson, 26, is shift leader at the pub.
“We are hoping to raise £288, everyone has got behind us and doing the cycle in the pub ensures there are lots of people around to donate some money.”
