RESCUE volunteer Ben Peachey will use pedal power to help the charity he is a part of.

The 22-year-old is planning to cycle for 80 miles to raise money for the Tewkesbury branch of the Severn Area Rescue Association.

Ben, who is a member of SARA's team in Tewkesbury and lives in the town, has set a fundraising target of £500. He hopes to collect the cash, through sponsorship, after cycling from the organisation's station near Kidderminster to its base at Beachley, near Chepstow.

Saturday's event will also see him call in at SARA's other two sites, in Tewkesbury and Sharpness. His friend, Dan Edwards, has agreed to keep him company.

He said: "I've been in training for four-and-a-half months and we're planning to do it in about five hours."

Donations can be made at www.justgiving.com/Ben-Peachey.
