Bennett rounded off a thrilling breakaway with a cool finish as Cirencester refused to lick their wounds after losing what had looked to be a decisive goal with six minutes left.

The first half was a poor spectacle with chances at a premium for both sides and precious little quality on show.

Tiverton were the first to show any life in the second period, but former England Youth International Michael Nardiello was unable to beat Glyn Garner in the Cirencester goal.

On three separate occasions the one-cap Welsh International stopper denied Nardiello the chance to put Tivvy in the lead and in the last half-hour the visitors took control.

And when Bell Wells broke clear to feed Sam Collier in the 70th minute, Cirencester's top scorer scuffed a shot low into the net giving Chris Wright in the Tivvy goal no chance.

It looked to be a decisive lead, but with just six minutes remaining Joe Bushin hammered home past Garner to level the scores.

But Cirencester were not to be denied a victory, and when Bennett rounded off a thrilling breakaway right at the death the points were theirs.

The crucial three points leave Brian Hughes' men just one point outside of the play-off places, albeit the Centurions have played significantly more games than their rivals.

Cirencester welcome Clevedon Town to the Corinium Stadium on Saturday (3pm).
