Berry nice
AS the nights draw in, designers and stores have revealed their looks for autumn and winter and there is a mass of styles to choose from.
You might just want to pick out a fashionable colour for a wall or a fabric – plums and berries are all the rage –or splurge on a new piece of furniture, or simply scatter some fab new cushions around.
Here are the new top trends:
Black and bling
Monochrome's predicted to star as the most user-friendly look that won't date. But black and white can be quite cold and hard, so it's lucky it pairs brilliantly with one of the other fashionable trends – metallics.
Naturalista
Natural materials like wood and stone, paired with accessories made from driftwood, glass and shell, are key ingredients for this multi-textured style. Only one warning – opt for urban smart, not beach hut basic. For the basic palette, think cream or whites, earthy browns, or the ultra-chic shades of dark flannel grey verging on black. Enliven with rich colours and decorative designs.
Colour and detail
Choose from shades such as amethyst and emerald through to olive green, claret, petrol and inky blues and saffron.
"Lift a neutral colour scheme with pattern and accents of electric neon colours with accessories or for the brave at heart, paint an old piece of furniture in bright neon or black coloured glass paint," says interior designer Andrea Maflin.
