Watch Commander Haggar said:  "Crews worked swiftly to bring the fire under control and limit the damage to the property as much as possible, the ground floor however has been almost completely gutted by the fire which had quickly spread."

A total of 80 per cent of the ground floor has been destroyed by the blaze and crews remained several hours at the scene.
