Blood donor success in Gloucestershire
A CAMPAIGN to recruit new blood donors has been hailed a success after almost 2,000 people signed up in Gloucestershire.
The national target of getting 100,000 new donors in the 100 days leading up to Valentine's Day was smashed two weeks before Thursday.
In total, 119,907 people signed up across England and Wales, and 1,851 were in the county.
The NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) campaign was launched following a dramatic decline in the number of younger donors signing up in 2012.

A spokesman said: "We rely on new blood donors to keep coming forward as we need more than 1,000 new registrations every day to replace those donors who can no longer donate."
