Bollards to go up on Gloucester's Gate streets
ELECTRIC bollards will be installed in Gloucester's Gate streets at a cost of £100,000.
The bollards will prevent vehicles from using the pedestrianised areas of Northgate, Eastgate, Southgate and Westgate streets between 10am and 4pm seven days a week.
The scheme is being jointly paid for by Gloucester City Council and Gloucestershire County Council.
City council leader Paul James said: "We don't always have the pedestrianised Gate streets that we aspire to."
Sunday and Monday evenings £12.00 per head for an all inclusive meal with Indian and Thai cuisine (normal price £14.50).

City councillor Jennie Dallimore, cabinet member for communities and neighbourhoods, said: "People who work in the Gate streets comment on this often.
"I'm pleased that we are investing in this."
The city council is paying its 50 per cent share from a £2 million city centre improvement fund.

“Well I hope they're better than the example at the top end (Boots Corner) of the Lower High Street in Cheltenham.
It's been an issue ever since it was installed several years ago. I can't remember the last time I actually saw it working (i.e. in the raised position), and when I was in town last weekend, the box containing the control equipment was knocked out of position, doors wide open, internals apparently trashed.
How much has the Cheltenham installation cost, all-in? Seems to have been a total waste of money.”

I agree that there should have been tickets done instead but of course then we get the moans of I'm a pensioner, I didn't see the signage, I'm disabled, It's affecting my business, I was dropping someone off, I was only 20 seconds, overzealous traffic wardens and so on. They are just money making scammers, cash cow etc.
This will of course penalise the minority who did use the roads properly and courteously and make deliveries more difficult and so the majority of peetakers ruin it for the rest - ain't that always the way!”

“They should have just put up cameras and issued tickets, this would have been self funding as the number of vehicles using the road at night is beyond a joke, motor vehicles are banned 24/7 except for loading and unloading between 5pm and 10am.
You should not park outside McDonalds, KFC and Food Junction to collect a takeaway.
The Bank cash machines are not drive through.
The pedestrian areas are NOT shortcuts.
Parts of the pedestrian areas are one way for loading and unloading, why not enforce this also (more fines to issue = more cash)
The camera on Llanthony bridge has worked, I haven't seen one car use the bridge over the last few months and I would think that that has been self funding.”
