Bonfire night and firework displays in Gloucestershire

IT'S that time of year again as Gloucestershire really does remember, remember the fifth of November.

The fire-tastic celebrations kick off today with firework displays at Hucclecote Rugby Club at 7.30pm, Bishops Cleeve Primary School at 6pm and Birdlip Primary School at 6pm.

Also tonight will be a display atChurchdown Park, starting at 5.30pm, including a fun fair.

Of course, the big displays in Cheltenham and Gloucester are returning to the Prestbury racecourse at 5pm and Gloucester Docks at 6pm respectively tomorrow – watch out for some loud bangs and pyrotechnic spectacles.

At the racecourse there will be a fun fair, food and drink, and Cheltenham Round Table hope to break the Guinness World Record for tea making at 5.30pm. The 12-man crew have to brew more than 725 cuppas in an hour to win.

At Gloucester Docks there will be an abundance of hot food, live music and market stalls offering bonfire favourites from toffee apples to sparklers.

On the same night, Tetbury is going all out not only with the fireworks, but also with a best Guy competition and bonfire as well atSir William Romney's School, with gates open at 6pm.

Firework display at St Edward’s Junior School in London Road, Cheltenham, on November 10. Gates open at 5.30pm. There will be a spectacular firework display, bonfire, stalls, hot food and drink and fair rides. Entry is £5 on the gate, under-4s are free. You can buy advance tickets, £4, from Forge in Charlton Kings, Sixways newsagent or Blend coffee shop in Church Piece. All proceeds will go to St Edward’s PTA.

Also that night is the display by Leckhampton Scouts', starting at the scout hut on Leckhampton Road at 6pm.

If you prefer your celebrations to be smaller, there are other fireworks events this weekend in Tewkesbury atThe Vineyards, starting at 6pm, above the lake at Croft Farm in Bredon.

On November 5 Elmbridge Junior School in Gloucester will light up the skies, with the fun starting at 6.30pm, while over at the Red Hart Inn in Blaisdon, fireworks start at 6pm.

For the super keen pyromaniacs, there are more celebrations at Bradstone Pavilion in Ashton Keynes at 5pm and Burley Fields on Leckhampton Lane, Leckhampton on Saturday at 7pm, November 10.

    “What time do the fireworks actually start in Gloucester Docks? I assume the gates open at 6pm but the fireworks aren't until later?”
