BREDON Buzzards look assured of a top two place in North Midlands One and seem certain to progress into the last 32 of the National Under-17s Cup.

After convincing wins against Camp Hull and Shrewsbury, the Buzzards travelled to Droitwich last weekend and came away with a 34-0 victory.

Ross Attwood was first on the scoreboard against Droitwich, after a midfield spill saw Bredon capitalise on the mistake. Joe Freeman added the extras.

Bredon's second try came from a forward drive from a line-out, the the ball was released to fly half Scott Bunch whose neat kick was gathered by Freeman for a try he converted himself.

After a Freeman penalty, Bredon extended their lead with a well-taken try from Ben Lees from a line-out drive.

Scrum-half Ed Davies burrowed over for a further try before half time, with Freeman again converting for a 29-0 half-time lead.

Droitwich gave a much better account of themselves after the break, using the conditions to their advantage they controlled possession.

However the Bredon defence stood strong and after weathering the storm, flanker Simon Hawkins scored a further try to seal the victory.

“Well done to the lads of Bredon, but which part of Gloucestershire are they in?”
