Brit handed six years for Bali drugs charge
JULIAN Ponder was sentenced to six years in jail yesterday after being identified by former Cheltenham woman Lindsay Sandiford.
The 43-year-old was convicted of possessing 23g of cocaine in Bali, but was cleared of smuggling the drug.

Ponder was one of three Britons arrested after being named by 56-year-old Sandiford.
The grandmother, who lived in Hester's Way and Warden Hill, was given the death sentence last week after being found guilty of smuggling.

She is now suing the Foreign Office for not supporting her appeal.
Ponder was also fined one billion rupiah (£65,000).

“I hope that this very,very lucky man doesn't get any help from our Government,either.
What's more,I'd like to see a Law passed here that puts his like in front of a beak for sullying the name of Great Britain and carry sentences that match the foreign ones.”
