Broadwell 5

Dursley Town 1

ONCE again, Broadwell served up a thriller for the home fans.

They went behind to a scintillating strike from Meta from a free-kick on the edge of the box.

Dursley held that lead until the break, although Craig Lewis hit the upright with a 25-yard curling free-kick.

Steve Belfitt found full back Lindsay a worthy opponent as they both battled for possession down the right flank.

Yet again, Broadwell's cause was helped by a sending off in the opposition's ranks.

Referee Meredith acted swiftly when he was verbally abused.

Broadwell captain Kerry Hale equalised after collecting a smart Craig Lewis pass.

He coolly placed the ball beyond the outstretched hands of keeper Watson.

Craig Lewis latched on to a Foxwell ball to make it 2-1, then Phil Delaney ghosted in at a corner to convert Belfitt's cross at the back post.

Matt Foxwell, once again prominent, held the ball up well and tackled back effectively. He scored Broadwell's fourth and fifth goals.

His second was the best, turning and volleying into the top corner from outside the box.

Chris Powell, returning to the midfield, allowed Hale to run from box to box, while left-back Ian Price supplied some great passes to Lewis and Foxwell.

Nash and Meta tried to inject some passion into the game for the visitors, but found Albon and Green difficult to break down.

Although Broadwell are in good form, the injuries are beginning to mount up.

Liam Marley, Robbie Smith, Mark Allen and Mark Weyman are long-term casualties, while Guy Jones and Kerry Hale picked up knocks on Saturday.

Teacher Scott Albon will also miss this week's trip to Gala Wilton because of a school skiing trip.

Broadwell: Lee Harris, Guy Jones, Ian Price, Scott Albon, Andy Green, Chris Powell, Kerry Hale (capt), Steve Belfitt, Phil Delaney, Craig Lewis, Matt Foxwell. Subs: Rob Stanyer, Dave Arnott.
