Bryer strikes at double to earn vital win
HANHAM Athletic moved off the bottom of the table with a 2-1 home win over high-riding Berkeley Town.
Town goalkeeper Ewan Prentice saved well after Shane Budding's curling free-kick almost caught him out.
Hanham took a deserved lead on 32 minutes after Ben Purdie's pass to Savas Frangoulis saw him break into the box and cross for Nathan Bryer to knock home at the far post.
Berkeley's first real effort on goal came in the 41st minute with a shot from James Mackie that was easy for Dan Fletcher in the home goal.
Town looked livelier at the start of the second half and a corner from the left was fisted away by Fletcher.
Minutes later Fletcher came quick off his line to deny Sam Strickland.
Hanham went 2-0 up through a 61st-minute penalty converted by Bryer.
Berkeley were back in the game on 69 minutes after a free-kick on the right was knocked to the far post and was headed back across goal where Strickland headed home from six yards.
In the 85th minute Berkeley almost levelled as Tom Palmer's flick just cleared the bar.
Patchway Town went down 7-0 at Yate Town Reserves.
They kept the home side at bay for 30 minutes but Joe Martin gave the home side the lead on 32 minutes.
Jordan Yeo made it 2-0 and new signing Jack Kinnerly netted number three.
Dominic Holver made it four after a mistake in the Patchway defence.
Then came two penalties, Neikell Plummer netting the first and Martin grabbing his second, before Deon Noakes rounded the scoring off.
Leader Axa were defeated 3-0 at home to King's Stanley, whose goals came from Chris Hayes, Daniel Stevens and Ben Newman.
Ellwood and Bishop's Cleeve Reserves remained goalless until the 75th minute when an own goal gave Ellwood the points.
Mike Beckingham netted a hat-trick to give Brimscombe and Thrupp a 3-2 win over last season's champions Thornbury Town.
Brimscombe took the lead on 20 minutes after Gary Probert drove the ball goalwards and Mike Beckingham touched it home.
Thornbury drew level after a cross was mishandled by the home keeper and James Derosa volleyed the ball home.
Thornbury went 2-1 ahead through Steve Alexander, but Brimscombe hit back with two more goals for Beckingham.
Rockleaze Rangers picked their first point with a 2-2 draw at Tuffley Rovers, while it was 1-1 between Henbury and Chipping Sodbury Town.
