It went missing on Monday March 4 in the late afternoon and a plea has gone out to get the deity back.

Dudley Taylor, owner of the shop said: "It was the focal point of the store, so anybody that comes to the shop or walks past it, can remember it with the Buddha outside it.

"I think it went just before I closed the shop at 5pm, I always bring it before I close but on that night of question itself I can't remember if I forgot to bring it or it was taken.

"I assume the person who has taken it has done it for a laugh and it is probably sitting in someone's garden."

Dudley is urging anyone who has seen the statue to bring it back to shop or to the police.
