Builder's blunder means a bonus for James
WHEN Coalway teacher James Barrow came home from school to see workmen digging up his drive he thought he had been the victim of a candid camera show.
The father-of-two discovered his drive was being ripped up without his permission when he nipped back to his house in Bayberry Place at lunchtime.
James said: "I couldn't believe it, I wasn't angry so much as dumbfounded, I was waiting for someone to jump out with a TV camera.
"I asked the guys working there if there had been a gas leak or something because otherwise they must have the wrong house."
After consulting their order sheets the workmen from MP Paving found that they should have been working at an address nearby.
But what began as a building blunder has turned into a bonus for James after the firm offered to put in a new drive for free as an act of goodwill.
Michael O'Brien, owner of MP Paving said: "It was an honest mistake caused by a misprint on an order form.
"We are sorry for any disruption this has caused Mr Barrow and his family and we have put in a new drive to make up for it."
James said: "It was one of those honest mistakes that happen and that's how we viewed it.
"Since it happened MP Paving have been phenomenal and couldn't have done more to put it right."
James is a year six teacher at Coalway Junior School.
He lives with his wife Kirsty and their children Dilys and Seth.
