ENGLAND head coach Stuart Lancaster has backed his young guns to be the backbone of England's side for the next ten years after watching his charges defeat world champions New Zealand on Saturday.

Gloucester's Freddie Burns made his debut as a second-half replacement, kicking two penalties to help seal the 38-21 victory for Lancaster's men.

The 22-year-old fly-half was joined by 23-year-old Gloucester team-mate Ben Morgan in an England side packed with the energy of youth.

The record victory over the All Blacks made up for narrow defeats against Australia and South Africa and left Lancaster excited about the potential in the ranks.

"It is brilliant to get this result but we are on a long-term plan and we have to make sure we back up the performance," he said.

"We didn't quite get across the line with Australia and South Africa but to get across the line with New Zealand with a young team with 206 caps in the starting XV is an unbelievable achievement.

"The win gives the players belief in the direction we are going and the rugby public a sense that this journey is the right one.

"We want to win here and now but we want to build a team for the future and we have lads like Joe Launchbury and Jon Joseph and Owen Farrell and Freddie (Burns) who are 21, 22 and 23 years old.

"They should be playing for England for years and we should be sat here in ten years' time and still have the same group of lads with 800 caps in our starting XV."

England started well and established a 12-0 half-time lead thanks to the kicking accuracy of 21-year-old Saracens fly-half Owen Farrell.

Farrell added another penalty early in the second half before the visitors roared back with tries from Julian Savea and Kieran Read to cut the lead to 15-14.

But rather than be consumed by the All Black tide, England roared back and tries from Brad Barritt, Chris Ashton and Manu Tuilagi put the hosts in complete control.

Burns entered the fray with the score at 32-14 and added two penalties to open his international account.

“...And it is because they make daft, troll pleasing decisions like that, you can fully expect them not to select Harden, regardless of the fact that he has put in a whole raft of outstanding performances.”

“Morgan was still going strong. It was a daft decision to replace him. So daft, in fact, that it is no wonder the troll glawsteruk1/akadau/copelandman/graybaggs thinks that it was a good idea.”

“Haskell replacing Morgan was a typical poor decision from the England set up.”

“Harden will not be called up by the England coaches for the same reason that they replaced Morgan with Haskell.

“On the one hand I will be astonished if Harden doesn't make the EPS for the 6N. On the other, I wouldn't be surprised if England just ignored him as they have with other Gloucester players over the years like Sinbad and Nick Wood.”

“Copelandman/Gordon_P/RuckandRoller/akadau/GlosRugbyMan/glawsteruk1/the troll has some nerve calling everyone else a troll when all he does is troll and rubbish players like Harden, Qera and Tindall, some of the finest exponents of the game of rugby union that Gloucester Rugby has ever had.”

“More clueless drivel from copelandman, aka akadau, aka GlosRugbyMan, aka peh45, aka glawsteruk1.

Plainly he is not a Gloucester Rugby supporter and wouldn't know where Kingsholm is. His only roll in life appears to be trolling about stuff he knows knowt about.”
