Bus with 25 people on board bursts into flames on M5
A bus with 25 people on board caught fire on the M5 last night.
Firefighters were called out at 7.54pm and police closed part of the motorway after a HGV driver spotted the flaming vehicle near Michaelwood Services.
It pulled onto the hard shoulder on the northbound carriageway between junction 13 and 14.
The quick-thinking driver had evacuated all 24 passengers by the time emergency services arrived.

One fire engine from Wotton Under Edge, one fire engine from Stroud and two further appliances from Avon Fire and Rescue Service attended the incident and found ther bus well alight.
Police and the Highways Agency were also mobilised to the incident and police closed the stretch of the motorway until the incident was dealt with.
Watch Commander Woodward from Stroud Fire Station said two jets and four breathing apparatus were used and the fire was extinguished by 8:52pm.

“NibNobs - No. The article definitely states it was down to the driver who evacuated the passengers. If it wasn't for the driver, the passengers would have stayed on board!....while it "burst" into flames.”
