IT was a busy weekend for Gloucestershire's Fire and Rescue Service after a number of incidents in Cheltenham and the surrounding area.

On Saturday morning fire crews were called on to put out a hedge fire in New Barn Lane, Prestbury, following an explosion caused by an underground power fault.

At noon firefighters from Cirencester were called out to a house fire in North Home Road. A fence, decking and the outside of a conservatory had caught fire in the blaze.

Then, at 1.30pm, a team from Cheltenham was called out to a car fire at Gallagher Retail Park in Tewkesbury Road.

Four firefighters managed to rescue the animal from the water unharmed.
