BICESTER 5 STOW 60

A PERSONAL tally of 25 points from Nick Cafearo helped Stow stay top of the Berks, Buck and Oxon Premier.

And a repeat of last week saw Stow fast out of the blocks to gain possession from the kick-off.

Through three quick phases, the ball was fed along the line to Cafearo who touched down wide out on the right wing.

Bicester showed some aggressive attacking intent, but Stow's defence prevailed.

They stole possession after ten minutes and quickly gained a scrum on the Bicester line.

Stow's number eight picked up and fed in scrum-half Matt Green to go in under the posts and make the score 12-0.

Bicester made progress up the slope which set up a period of sustained pressure in the Stow 22.

Stow took a scrum against the head and the backs showed quick hands and heels for Ed Fanshaw to score on the left wing for 19-0.

The Bicester backs were struggling, but when they had the chance, they were quick and elusive and scored an unconverted try at the start of the second half.

A second front-row injury to the Bicester hooker led to uncontested scrums which spoilt the match.

Stow adapted well and kicked a penalty and their passing, running and fitness was now too much for their opponents.

Alex Kelly made a good break, offloaded and three passes later Tim Holmes scored on the left after 52 minutes.

Bicester were now trying to kick their way out of trouble but on the hour George Rodden collected and set his backs running once again and James Ford touched down for an unconverted try in the corner.

A minute later Louis Chapman tackled and stripped his opponent off the ball and fed Alex Kelly who outpaced the defence from 55 yards for 41-5.

From another uncontested scrum on 70 minutes, George Rodden broke and supplied a try scoring pass to Tim Holmes who scored close to the posts.

Three minutes later, Jo Nott fed Jamie Holmes to score a try on wide left for 53-5.

After scoring in the first minute, Cafearo rounded off a fine personal performance in the 76th minute.

He got on the end of a move of at least ten passes and converted the try to bring his kicking tally to seven out of ten.
