Hannah, 15, and Sophie, 13, from Mona Avenue, in Kingsway, raised £1,000 at a similar event last year.

Now they want to raise the same figure for seriously ill children again this year.

Mum Angie, a 43-year-old shop assistant, said: "Anything goes. If it can be performed on stage, we want to see it, whether it be dancers, a band, a magician, comedians or people with football skills."

The solo or group acts will have three minutes on stage to perform.

They have already signed up a burlesque dancing pensioner as one of the acts.

But more acts are needed after a slow start to this year's auditions.

"Last year the event went so well we had to turn people away on the night," said Angie.

"But this year has been slow. We thought we would have had more people come forward by now."

Auditions will take place from 3pm until 5pm at the Linda Virgoe Dance Academy, at the Quedgeley Enterprise Centre, in Naas Lane.

The show will take place at the village hall on March 9 at 7pm. Tickets are £5 for adults and £3 for children.

All proceeds raised will go to the Heart FM Have A Heart appeal, which is granting wishes to seriously ill children.

Up to 140 people will be able to enjoy the show, which will be judged by radio presenter Warren Moore, dance teacher Linda Virgoe, and David Sheppard, music teacher at Ribston Hall High School.

“Some of this information is incorrect! We are asking for help here NOT trying to put people off! The Burlesque dancer was never referred to as a "pensioner" and is NOT. Also we raised just over £500 last year. An apology please from The Citizen????”
