Cannabis and cocaine found in Gloucestershire drugs raids

Dozens of cannabis plants and cocaine worth an estimated £5000 were found during drugs raids in Gloucestershire.

Police from Gloucestershire Constabulary’s Crime Operations Team carried out a series of warrants in Wotton-under-Edge and Berkeley starting on Wednesday October 10 at an address in Kiln Terrace, Wotton.

Officers found 71 Cannabis plants as well as equipment believed to be used in the cultivation of drugs at the locations.

A large amount of suspected Cocaine was also recovered with a value of approximately £5,000.

On Thursday October 11, officers carried out a warrant at a farm in Berkeley Heath. 160 Cannabis plants were found here, along with a large amount of equipment believed to be used in the cultivation of the drug.

Police from the team continued their investigation which led to a further warrant at a farm in Berkeley on Friday October 12, where further suspected drug cultivation equipment was found but no plants.

Four people have been arrested in connection with the investigation. A 53-year-old man from Bristol, a 58-year-old man from Berkeley and two men aged 27 and 69 from Wotton under Edge were all arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to cultivate Cannabis. They have all been released on police bail pending further enquiries until January.

Detective Inspector Ian Fletcher from the team said: “I hope this series of warrants sends out a clear message to criminals that we are taking and we will continue to take direct action against those involved in illegal activity.

“Our crime operations team has been set up to target those individuals causing the most harm in the community. We do act upon all information given to us and would urge anyone who knows anything about those involved in crime to contact us.”
