“Us Artist's need somewhere we are aloud to paint.... I didn't do this piece but may know who did... Also I'm a artist from Gloucester and recently painted a piece for a friend that pasted away recently called Cain Westcarr, I'm very into Streetart and need somewhere to go... I can think of a few places that need some pow to it such as the crusty wood going around the old Gloucester collage... Now come on something should be done there... We need local Artist's getting some art on there.... I'm willing to take part... And I want to thank you for reading this.... Don't take me as some tagging yob take me as a artist... I'm just trying to set some colour onto the streets... As I said I didn't do this but I don't do this type of Streetart...”

“Have we found a Gloucester version of Banksey?

Go to Valparaiso in Chile to see amazing street art, in a location designated a World Heritage Site, the locals don't consider it vandalism and see it as a way of attracting visitors to their city.”

“There has been a lot of interesting street art appearing around the city.
Still I do think we need to look at Bristol, and the incredible street art, mainly due to having a legal area where artists can spend a bit of time painting something nice,
and not just having 20 mins in the dark.

Maybe the council should call out to these artists and get them to paint something special, or at least have a designated graffiti area, and see what these people can come up with.”

“Katieshopper and freeradical I could not agree more, this can't just be painted over it will have to be removed with some quite nasty chemicals. If this was on the drab boarding around the gloscat sit it would have been good but not here!”

“Perhaps the 'artist' would like to practise his/her 'art' on the Citizen's offices next. If the owner of the building doesn't want it, then it is a criminal offence, pure and simple. It doesn't matter if it is an exact copy of the Mona Lisa, it shouldn't be there.”

“Not all graffiti is art and it also depends where it's put, but I like this as it's certainly cheered up what is an otherwise drab and soul less building. Plus I love Cat in the Hat!”

“I think Valhalla2010 is in the minority here. I also think that this is street art and not graffiti. Graffiti is Kilroy woz 'ere, J heart M, Liz ... is a sl*g etc. Maybe there should be more street art like this, dotted around Gloucester and used as an amusement for children. Give them a piece of paper with the pictures on and clues and get them to mark off every one they see!

Why not actually encourage artists to cover designated walls with their art and maybe, if there was enough of it, it could even be a reason for people to come to Gloucester. Perhaps there could be a competition to design a picture that could be painted on an approved building, maybe even paying a small "rent" to the building owner for the use of the wall. Think of it, Gloucester could be the street art capital of England!!”

“It's vandalism, plain and simple. There is a world of difference between public art and some scrawny image dawbed on a drab concrete building in a semi-deserted city centre.

Would you approve if the image had been painted on your house? No? There you go then.”
