Cautious welcome for plans
CONVERSION of a county owned farm into housing would offer a "sympathetic improvement" to the site, Stonehouse councillors' felt.
The scheme to turn Horsemarling Farm, on Stonehouse's boundary with Standish Parish, came before the latest Regeneration and Environment Committee of Stonehouse Town Council.
Members' opinion has still to be ratified by the next full council meeting on September 2 but overall the committee believed the scheme would "provide a suitable facade at the entrance to the town."
The committee was however concerned that problems with surface water draining had been underestimated,.

Gloucestershire County Council's scheme for Horsemarling includes 16 new houses, and conversion of barns and houses into six more residential units.
Stonehouse's view will be passed to the Stroud District Council planners who will decide on the application.
