Chasers can't keep up with the Jones boys
TETBURY Town enjoyed another good weekend in Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division One.
Richard Jones scored the only goal of their home clash with Shortwood United Reserves on the hour mark, ensuring they remain in top spot.
The teams in second and third went head-to-head at Bishop's Cleeve Playing Fields, where Longlevens were beaten 1-0 by Star FC thanks to a Shaun Gluyas strike.
Elsewhere, Lydbrook Athletic and Barnwood United each enjoyed 2-0 victories over Brockworth Albion and Cheltenham Civil Service respectively.
Wotton Rovers boosted their survival hopes with a 4-1 drubbing of Ramblers, while the game between Dursley Town and Gala Wilton ended in a 2-2 draw.
The result of the day in Division Two came at Mitcheldean, where FC Barometrics managed an extraordinary 8-3 win to pile on more misery for the struggling Forest outfit.
Leaders Leonard Stanley were also impressive away winners, seeing off Longford 4-1, and they have stretched their lead at the summit after a surprise 2-0 home defeat for Newton Heath and Stroud.
Chalford's Jack Webb missed a penalty in their scoreless draw with Tidenham, while there were home wins for Bourton Rovers and Cam Bulldogs over Soudley and Viney St Swithins respectively.
Smiths Athletic consolidated their top-five berth with a 3-1 defeat of Harrow Hill Reserves, with six goals shared between Winchcombe Town and Hatherley Rangers at King George V Playing Fields.
