The Gloucestershire Echo’s resident tipster Jonathan Herbert has lined up some great bets for Queen Mother Champion Chase Day.

Herbert is backing Master Minded to complete a hat-trick of wins in today’s feature race.

Punchestown looks full of potential and is the nap of the day in the RSA Chase after an impressive start to his chasing career.

Herbert fancies Any Currency to enjoy the good ground and tips the seven-year-old to continue his progression over the longer course under Irish amateur champion Derek O’Connor.

Rite of Passage is picked out in the Novice’s Hurdle and Deutschland is also fancied under Ruby Walsh in the Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle.

AP McCoy is tipped to add to yesterday’s win on Binocular by steering Open Day to victory in the 4.40 and Elegant Concorde is seen as a decent chance in the Champion Bumper.

Best bets for the third day of the Cheltenham Festival:

Jonners rates one of Paul Nicholls’ runners as the best bet of the day

NAP: Alfie Sherrin (Cheltenham 2.05) The lightly-raced seven-year-old, in the same ownership at Gold Cup contender Denman, has scope for further improvement after winning at Sandown and trainer Paul Nicholls has kept him fresh for this race.

NEXT BEST: Rivaliste (Cheltenham 1.30) He was narrowly foiled in his hat-trick bid when collared late at Sandown, conceding nearly a stone to the winner, and looks sure to go well under Ruby Walsh.

Cheltenham: 1.30 Rivaliste (NEXT BEST); 2.05 ALFIE SHERRIN (NAP); 2.40 Tranquil Sea; 3.20 Big Buck’s; 4pm Watch My Back; 4.40 Ballabriggs.
