Cheltenham High Street repairs planned
A section of Cheltenham High Street will be closed next week to allow Gloucestershire Highways to repair potholes.
The stretch of road - which is not pedestrianised - between Henrietta Street and Ambrose Street will be closed from Monday.

Operation Road Rescue
Ambrose Street itself will also close as part of the £130,000 project, which has been timed to coincide with half term in a bid to minimise disruption.
Gloucestershire Highways says the affected road has deteriorated to such an extent that highways teams will need to dig as deep as two feet in some sections of the road to repair the damage.
Councillor Stan Waddington, cabinet member for environment, said: "While this work was scheduled to take place soon, we've had to bring it forward as an urgent job because the condition is now so bad.
"As part of Operation Road Rescue we are targeting the worst areas first and this certainly fits the criteria.
"Fixing the roads in Gloucestershire is our top priority but inevitably this will cause some inconvenience to motorists.
"Closing a busy road is always difficult, but in this case we've tried to minimise disruption by doing the work in half term when there are less cars on the road.
"I would ask people to be patient while the scheme is completed."

“The section between the the last set of lights and the Gloucester road junction is the only bad bit, and it is very bad, but has been this way for years.”

“Lets hope they can repair the High St. road surface and fully re-open the road faster than the farce currently taking place along St. Pauls Road. They started in October and the road is STILL being dug up along there!”

“I agree, most of Cheltenham High Street is a complete and utter... oh, no, it says 'pothole'. Sorry, misread the copy.”

“Nobby, the Shurdington road itself is like an assult course pot-holes every few hundred yards from the Norwood Arms all the way to Shurdington. The problem is they aren't all in the same line so you end up wanting to cross the white lines to avoid some especially near Up Hathereley junction.”

“I would have thought there are more deserving pot-holed roads in Cheltenham. The High Street can't be as bad as the roads between Shurdington Rd/Morrisons/Up Hatherley Way. 4 weeks on they are still dreadful!”

“It would be good if they could tackle Hales Road, just before the Harp Hill roundabout. The surface is terrible there. I suspect they will get round to it eventually.”
