CHARLTON Rovers closed the gap on leaders Bibury to three points in Division One of the Cheltenham League with a 5-1 victory over Tewkesbury Town.

With six games remaining the title is looking like a two horse race.

Both teams are in action this weekend and will be keeping a keen eye on each others results as the season reaches its climax.

At the bottom of the table Apperley and Tewkesbury Dynamos are still sitting on one point following a 2-0 loss last week to Northway. Their task does not get any easier this week when they face Bibury.

The big game in Division Two this week sees the top two take on each other. Gala Wilton Reserves head the table, four points ahead of Hanley Swan although Swan have a game in hand.

Victory for Gala will see them take a step closer to the title although with six games still to play there is still time for a late twist.

FC Lakeside claimed an emphatic 11-0 win over bottom club Elmbride OB. With 14 wins and one draw in their 15 league games Lakeside are firm favourites for the Division Three title even though they have eleven games left.

Elmbridge remain four points adrift at the bottom of the table. They will be hoping to add to their three points when they play Naunton Park Rovers.

Rovers sit four places and 19 points ahead of their opponents and will provide a tough test.

The bottom club in Division Four, Bourton Rovers Reserves recorded a 2-0 victory against Fintan.

The result means that mathematically Rovers can still avoid bottom spot however they will need to win all of their remaining 11 games and hope that the teams above them lose all theirs.

Leaders Charlton Rovers Reserves continued their winning ways with a 6-4 victory at Cheltonians.

With second placed Priors losing their games to a flooded pitch, Rovers extended their lead to nine points. However, Priors now have seven games in hand on their rivals and remain in a strong position.

Victories for the top two in Division Five, Newlands Athletic and Pittville United has set the scene nicely for when the teams meet this weekend at The Newlands. Athletic lead the way currently but victory for United will leave them two points behind the leaders with a game in hand.

Bottom club Winchcombe Town III suffered a 10-0 defeat at Star III. Their task will not get any easier this weekend when they face fourth placed Dowty Dynamos.

After leading Division Six for most of the season, Cheltenham United slipped to third in the table following Leckhampton Rovers Reserves 9-0 victory over Andoversford Reserves.

United saw last weekend's game postponed following a flooded pitch. They will hope to return to winning ways this weekend when they face bottom club Regency Town.

Town lost 9-0 last weekend to Tewkesbury Town III and with only one game remaining after this weekend they are rapidly running out of time to avoid the ignominy of finishing in bottom spot in their inaugural season in the league.
