A fan's view of Cheltenham Town's 1-1 draw against Aldershot Town with Oli Fell:

We have to start winning games at home. I think we played the long ball far too often today when there were better opportunities to pass.

Ball retention was especially poor today. Aldershot came with a game plan which was to defend and ‘park the bus’.

They executed that plan well and defended resolutely, but once they were down to ten men I really felt we should have grabbed the winner.

With all the possession we had today, to only get four shots on target suggests our shooting was fairly wayward and then there was the occasion where Harrad did well to create his chance but he should have finished it off.

If we keep on dropping maximum points from teams who are in the bottom six at home then we’re going to struggle to finish in the top three which is, in my opinion, an achievable goal for the team this season.

Marlon Pack showed today that we cannot afford to lose him at this stage of the season. Although he started the season slowly, some time on the bench has probably done him good and he looks motivated and more like the player he was all of last season.

I think the team selection was spot on today, although I’d like Jones to come back in for Keith for the next game.

We didn’t look as threatening from set pieces as we usually do and a whipped corner rather in a floated one suits us more. Kaid coming on for Russ allowed us to get more width and was a good change from Yatesy.

Overall, a point is a point but in my opinion that’s two big points dropped. Onto the next one! Come on you Robins.

MARKS OUT OF TEN:

Scott Brown 6 - Didn't have to make a save and was helpless for the goal

Sido Jombati 7 - Defended well and looked promising on the attack

Steve Elliott 6 - A standard performance and was dominant in the air

Michael Hector 6 - Assured on the ball but sometimes could have passed when he played it long

Keith Lowe 6 - His long throws caused a problem but got beaten too often down the wing

Marlon Pack 8* - Easily the best player on the pitch today, his passing and tenacity was a joy to behold

Russ Penn 6 - Went off due to injury but it was a typical performance from the captain.

Jason Taylor 5 - Looked off the boil today. Passing was astray but his strength was integral

Jermaine McGlashan 8 - Brilliant down the wing and consistently beat his man, final ball was poor today though

Paul Benson 7 - Good header for the goal and held the ball up well

Byron Harrison 6 - Good hold up play at times, but lost the ball too often

Subs:

Luke McCullough 7 - Looked very good considering it was his debut. If Elliott's injury is serious we have adequate cover

Kaid Mohamed 6 - Came on and at times gave us the spark we were missing in the first half

Shaun Harrad 6 - Gave us a different dimension to Harrison and probably should have scored
