Cheltenham Town have signed goalkeeper Connor Roberts on a one-year deal.

The former Everton youngster will be on the bench for tomorrow's Capital One Cup first round tie against MK Dons at the Abbey Business Stadium.

He becomes the fifth new signing of the summer, following Sam Deering, Billy Jones, Chris Zebroski and long-term loan addition Shaun Harrad.

Wrexham-born Roberts, 19, will provide cover for first choice goalkeeper Scott Brown.

He joined Everton from Tranmere Rovers in 2009 and has represented Wales at Under-16 and Under-17 level.

Roberts was Everton Under-18s' regular keeper in 2010/11 and was part of the side which secured Academy league glory at Fulham at the end of that campaign.

He battled Adam Davies for a regular spot between the sticks for Alan Stubbs' reserve team in the 2011/12, but both men were released by the Blues in May 2012.

Davies made one appearance on trial for Cheltenham at Port Talbot earlier in the pre-season period.

“Not heard those rumours Scout - I would guess that MY would be looking for 1 more experienced league midfielder to sign or get in on a long-term loan to provde cover for Pack / Penn.”

“Some shrewd buys there by Mark Yates.

Hope we can get this young Irish player that's been mentioned as well - Richie Towell I think his name is.

Aren't we also in for TNS winger Greg Draper too?”
