Cheltenham Town boss Mark Yates has missed out on his latest loan target, a striker from a Coca-Cola League One club.

Yates was hoping to have the new face in his squad to face Burton Albion tomorrow, but he has ruled on any arrivals before the club's first trip to the Pirelli Stadium.

"I have missed a player today because he didn't want to come down, so we won't have anything for tomorrow," Yates said.

"I have made a few more calls, but it's too late for tomorrow now so we will go with what we have got.

"It's frustrating, but it's a not a problem and we will tinker with the team and be okay."

Yates also missed out on Bristol City's John Akinde last week. He is now aiming to have strengthened his attacking options in time for next Saturday's home match against Port Vale.

“A.M. - Half price tickets? Are you feeling OK? The club is STILL playing off the hotel bills for MA's reign, so how would offering 1/2 prce tickets possibly help our current situation? We need to MAKE money, not LOSE more money!!”

“I applaud MY for waiting until the RIGHT striker comes along (that we can also afford!!). He's proved with his signings with Lescott + Elito that he knows a good player when he sees one (unlike any old dross that MA was prepared to get in to "satisfy" the fans).
Let's all hope that MY's paitence will be deservedly rewarded”

“3/1 to go down appears very generous if you look at the respective run in fixtures of Grimsby and CT.”

“Offer half price tickets to crucial home games in run in to help fill the ground. We must stay up. Short term financial pain for long term gain all round.”

“Father Christmas, are you sure you aren't Martin Allen in disguise! Anything an improvement??? Romone Rose, Sam Cox, Tom Denton, Lathaniel Rowe-Turner...um no thanks, I'd rather wait for a decent player!”

“Not a surprise. I just feel with Cheltenham in the position they are in that this fight for safety is as important as the promotion we gained into the league and all funds should be made available to give the manager every chance of securing a striker good enough to be of use in our survival.”

“"We will go with what we've got" - What a surprise! Sounds like Keith Drowning all over again - anything would be an improvement over what we already have, take a gamble!!”
