ROBINS players Alan Bennett and Sam Deering proved they are not just talented footballers, they are good sports too.

The Cheltenham Town FC pair put their all into helping out at the Everyman Theatre, as part of the club's charity day.

Designed to enable the club to give something back to the community, it saw players also visiting Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and the National Star College at Ullenwood.

At the Everyman, Alan and Sam served tea in the cafe and greeted schoolchildren arriving for the pantomime, Dick Whittington.

Backstage, the pair chatted to the cast and made an appearance on stage alongside Tweedy the clown.

Theatre press officer Jackie McKenzie said: "The players were fantastic.

"They really joined in with the spirit of panto."

He added: "They got a huge cheer when Tweedy mentioned their match against Everton in January."
