Kim Bo-Kyung levelled for the Bluebirds in the 26th minute, placing a low shot inside the right post after a neat passing move.
It was only Cardiff's second friendly contest, following their 4-3 midweek win at Forest Green Rovers and there some clear signs of rustiness.
But the likes of Craig Bellamy, Craig Noone and Fraizer Campbell showed glimpses of their class as the first half wore on.
Brown, who had another solid game alongside Steve Elliott at the back, had the ball in the net again after the break, but he was offside.
