Cheltenham Town video: Five star Robins roar back to form
Dagenham and Redbridge 0 Cheltenham Town 5
Cheltenham Town stormed back from their recent dip in form with a club record-equalling Football League victory at Dagenham and Redbridge this afternoon.

Victoria Road
Strikes from Luke Summerfield and the fit-again Steve Elliott put Mark Yates' side on course before Dagenham had goalkeeper Chris Lewington sent off in the 43rd minute for handling outside the box.
Kaid Mohamed made it 3-0 before the break and a second half goal for substitute Jimmy Spencer made it four.
Mohamed will claim the fifth, but his cross went in off defender Micky Spillane to make it five and send out a statement of intent to the other title challengers in League Two.
Cheltenham looked fired up from the first whistle and they pinned Dagenham back in their own half for opening minutes.
They had to wait until the 12th minute for their first genuine opening, when Scott Brown's wind-assisted clearance found Jeff Goulding all alone in the penalty area.
He attempted to nudge it past Lewington, but the goalkeeper adjusted himself well to get a hand to it and keep it out.
But Cheltenham continued to dominate and it was no surprise when they took the lead in the 20th minute.
A corner from Luke Garbutt towards the near post was cleared as far as Summerfield, who crashed an unstoppable drive into the top left corner.
Seconds later another kick from Brown almost caught out Lewington, who had to take evasive action to touch it over the bar at full stretch.
But it was 2-0 in the 21st minute when Elliott announced his return from a one-month injury lay-off with his second goal of the season, controlling the ball in the penalty area and rolling a low shot inside the right post.
The drama continued in the 39th minute when Lewington advanced to the edge of the box reach a header from Sido Jombati, but he handled outside the penalty area under pressure from Josh Low.
Lewington was dismissed and his replacement Dave Hogan's first task was to pick the ball out of his net.
He could only parry Garbutt;s free-kick and Mohamed was presented with a simple tap-in for his ninth strike of the campaign.
Goulding, who was recalled in attack in favour of leading scorer Darryl Duffy, was withdrawn in the final minute of the first half after picking up a knock and he was replaced by Spencer.
Jimmy Spencer ended his personal goal drought in the 62nd minute, thumping into the net after a pass from Sido Jombati reached him somewhat fortuitously.
The fifth arrived in the 71st minute when Mohamed's driven left foot cross deflected into the net off Spillane.

“Well done the Robins! Just the response that was needed! I was in Essex the weekend and fairly nearby but something else came up and I couldn't get to the game! Typical! Although the weather was horrible so phaps it wasn't a bad thing!”

“The reason Penn is continually substituted is his sciatica problem which was thought to be a hamstring injury.
Duffy, Spencer etc have not made their places their own and as much as we criticise Mohamed he scores and takes two defenders with him most of the time. The pace we have in this team worries everyone we play.
I dont always agree with”

“I think both these comments are very valid but I suppose Yatesey has his own way of doing things. Maybe he is saving McGlashen for a big promotion push last third of the season? Fergie tends to do this at Man U and who would argue with his success. Trouble is, try it against Hereford and only get a point and we all moan, me included. Do it Saturday and stuff the Daggers and we're all happy. That's what makes it a great game and it means so much to be a Robins supporter, not able to compete financially with the likes of Crawley and Swindon but giving them a good run for their money!”

“Brilliant score for the Robins, even though we were helped by their keeper getting sent off. Having said that we were already 2 up by then. Dagenham are a pretty poor side though and I won't believe the "blip" is over until we beat a decent side like Wimbledon tomorrow night. Great to see Elliott back, but I'm perplexed by MY's reluctance to use McGlashan. I really feel he can give us a cutting edge we might lack at times (although obviously not on Saturday!). As for Mohammed, although I believe he lacks much footballing ability, at this level pace and enthusiasm can cover a multitude of sins, and he does have an eye for goal. My main gripe is that MY is blind to any of his shortcomings and insists on making the same substitutions every week (Penn and the two strikers). Sometime it's just not working for Kaid, especially at home, so he needs to be replaced on occasions. Anyway on to a real test tomorrow and fingers crossed.”

“Hi Fatzio, cant dispute Mo's goal tally but I can dispute how he actually gets them there at times, however I will agree with you in that I think he maybe better if played straight down the middle because his lack of skill and football brain leaves me more than frustrated most of the time.Playing him down the centre would have the defence on the back foot all the time with his pace however would he be intelligent enough (football wise) to bend his runs, change direction and know when to shoot and when to pass.M Y obviously feels he gives balance to the side biy id love to see his pass compleation rate, how many times he loses the ball and how many tackles he makes. If we were to get promotion he will be out of his depth at that slightly higher level, unlike McGlashan who has skill and football brain in abundance!!!”

“Al. Whilst I agree that Mohamed can be frustrating, he is putting the ball in the net and whilst this may seem an easy task, you have to be there at the right time to tap them in. Not always as easy as it may seem. Perhaps if he were told to play higher up the field in a more central role, where he had only one defender to get past before having a strike at goal (which he has done more than once this season) we may see an even better return from him. Also, personally, I would have liked Crawley to stay in the cup as long as possible to give them even more games to play. Apparently Evans reaction helped to get Delap sent off. When is the FA going to wise up on this bloke. Does anyone know the outcome of him being sent to the stand against us or what he said to Yatesey?”

“Mr Houghton, you obviously have not witnessed Mohameds goals, last Saturdays in point,a tap in off a mistake from the keeper and a cross that was deflected in from some way out.
Kaid Mohamed DOES NOT contribute to the overall team in many of the games at home,he constantly runs up blind alleys fails to find his own men and by his own addmission has looked to be replaced when the subs numbers goes up ,because even he knows how poor he is at times....So Mr Houghton Kiss It!”

“Gloucester Rugby complete the double at Bath, CTFC overwhelm D&R, FGR and City win and Shortwood triumph in the Vase. Wow. No more moans from CTFC fans please - Yeates has worked wonders for you and deserves your absolute support. And won't he have enjoyed seeing that odious tub of lard at Crawley getting worked over by Stoke. Heat turned on Crawley who now face 2 games most weeks, having been beaten twice this last week. Lard may turn to dripping quite soon?”

“Wow ! This is SERIOUS !!!! Any such victory - home or away - is a huge statement of intent. Well done guys. It would seem like this Kaid Mohamed has scored in every game since people came on here and said how useless he was. Oh Well perhaps Yates knows better than the barrack room managers.”
